How do I downgrade my psp firmware ?
Ok, I get it . You have no clue how to play these free psp games you are just downloading. No worries. First thing you need to know is if you are on a custom firmware. To check out your current firmware version, head over to the ‘Settings’ tab on your psp and navigate down to ‘System Information’. If it says ‘System Software 3.53′ or some other 3 numbers with nothing after it, then you are probably on a PSP ‘Official Firmware’ and you require to downgrade your psp.
First Step: Copying the installation files to your psp.
Download the below psp firmware downgrade program.
http://duckload.com/download/284020/Recovery_Flasher_www.iPSPgames.com_.rar

Access the recovery Menu by turning the psp on while holding the R tab

Open the extracted folder “Recovery Flasher” and
copy the “PSP” folder into the Psp’s Memory Card
Overwriting the other “PSP” folder

Extract the file you just you downloaded

Disconnect the psp from USB mode

Step 2: Running the PSP Firmware downgrade Program
The second thing you need to execute the file you just transferred to downgrade your psp.

Now navigate to the option “ Run programs at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP” and hit “x” on it.

A program called “ Recovery Flasher” will now load. It will kinda look like the above screen shot once loaded. Scroll your way to the second option. “ I agree, now take me to the program”.

A menu will appear, On the first option, navigate though what firmware version you
would like to install.You could choose from the following firmwares: 3.71, 3.80, 3.90 4.01 & 5.00.

Now scroll down, to the second option “Install M33 CFW…”
and hit “X” on it.

Choose “reset (format)…” It doesn’t matter really what option is chose.

The Firmware you chose will be installed and it will take about
3-4 minutes to finish the installation.

Once the setup is complete, ether press any buttons to reboot the Psp or remove
the battery and insert it back in.

Step 3: Check if the firmware is installed correctly

Check your psp firmware version as we did earlier.
